Housing Part action
A Housing Court case, usually brought by tenants or HPD, asking a judge to order an owner to correct violations.
The Housing Part of Civil Court is where the housing code gets a judge. Tenants can file an HP action to compel repairs, and HPD litigates its own cases there against owners with uncorrected violations. The court can order corrections, impose civil penalties, and hold owners in contempt for ignoring its orders.
HPD's litigation caseload is public, and a building that appears in it has moved past paperwork: the city is suing. On this site those records appear on the building page under HPD litigation.
