Methodology

Buildings are ranked by total open records from live per-building rollups across HPD, DOB, ECB/OATH and FDNY.
Only buildings with a resolvable street address are listed. Closed and certified-corrected records are excluded.
Counts are absolute, not normalized by building size. A large building naturally accrues more records than a small one.
Data refreshes hourly from NYC Open Data; this page recomputes on the same cadence. Registrations lag reality: an owner may have sold a building recently.
Every count is an open public record, not a finding of guilt. Many violations are contested or awaiting a hearing.
