Heat season
October 1 through May 31, when NYC law requires apartments be heated to 68 degrees by day (below 55 outside) and 62 at night.
During heat season the heat law is specific enough to check with a thermometer: 68 degrees between 6 AM and 10 PM whenever it is below 55 outside, 62 degrees overnight regardless of the weather. Hot water is required year-round. Failures are Class C, immediately hazardous violations with an immediate correction requirement, and they are the most seasonal signal in the city's data.
